Analytical Reflection

Delivery
During the mock presentation, I could feel my tension was making me nervous to speak which causes me to forget about my expression and tone while presenting. I also tend to blank out a little where I focused too much on what I wish to deliver to my audience. This made me forget about my facial expression, making me look stern while presenting. However, it was never my intention to look stern but I guess my anxiety got the best of me.
It was also mentioned by Professor that I am lacking in passion and enthusiasm during my speech which caused my part of presentation seems like a matter of fact.

Preparation
I felt that my anxiety was caused by the inadequate in preparation of materials for the presentation as well as the lack of practicing before the presentation. Also, I felt overwhelmed during Q&A section as I was not prepared to anticipate the questions that will be asked during Q&A before the presentation. Due to the time deficiency, I was underprepared for my slides and materials which causes my flow to be unplanned and hence my conclusion was not well done.

Conclusion

In order for me to present better in the final, I will prepare my materials and script two days beforehand to build the flow of my presentation and getting familiarize with my topics. I would also meet up with my team members to rehearse on the presentation as a team so we could practice on our overall flow, and how we could transit smoother when handing the slides over. I believe that being well prepared beforehand could help with my anxiety, as I know what I have to present about and anticipating what is going to happen during the presentation I could gain my confidence by getting on top of my materials. I hope that by reducing my anxiety, I could relax my expression and remember to be more friendly and able to think better even when presenting.

  1. Hi Rachel! Glad to see your improvements through today's presentation in class! Good job for the effort put in for the past few days. However you can still continue to work on your facial expression as mentioned to be your flaw, take a deep breath before your turn to present in future and be less tense! With that, your presentation will sure feel more enthusiastic. You have mentioned in your post that you will prepare your materials and script 'two days' beforehand. I feel that there isn't a need to mention 'two days' here, maybe you can state that you will prepare adequately instead and not specify that number of days. All the best, you can sure do better in future! :)

  2. Hello Rachel, I was there to witness your presentation today. I notice many improvement from the mock presentation to the final presentation, from time management to answering question. However, you are still a tat nervous when presenting as you tend to forget what you want to say and consistently looking at the slides. I believe that this can be eliminated with more practices.

All in all, i want to say is great work and as Kim Collins said " Strive for continuous improved instead of perfection".

    Thanks
    Winfred
